Professional Experience

Brian L. Klock joined Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto in 1992.  Since that time he has concentrated in the areas of client counseling, opinion drafting, litigation, licensing, and patent prosecution, primarily involving the electrical and mechanical sciences. 

Mr. Klock has extensive experience in client counseling and preparation of opinions concerning infringement and validity issues, as well as the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.  He has also been substantially involved in various patent litigations for clients such as Canon.

Prior to joining Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, Mr. Klock worked as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, examining patent applications related to computer hardware and software.

Mr. Klock serves as the Managing Partner in the Washington, D.C. office.

Awards and Recognition

Mr. Klock is recognized in IAM 1000 The World’s Leading Patent Litigators 2014-2016 as a leading attorney and was listed in Legal 500 2010-2012 and 2015 for Patent Prosecution: utility and design patents. He was also selected by Patent Buddy as one of the Top Patent Prosecutors nationally in the Mechanical area for 2011. Recipient of the 2011 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for “The JPML: An Alternate Route to a New Venue,” originally published in the November/December 2010 issue of Landslide.
